Duff Mckagan
Mckagan

In 1984, Duff McKagan was just a punk kid from Seattle, driving his old Ford to LA, trying to escape the drug siege in the Northwest where he played drums, guitar and bass in bands such as Fastback and Ten Minute Warning. A week later, Duff was still living in his car, and he answered an ad that was looking for a bass player. The ad was posted by someone named Slash. And from here a history is created. And Guns N 'Roses created one of the greatest albums of all time. Duff McKagan when in 1994 he was hospitalized with pancreatic disease due to alcohol dependence, consuming extreme alcohol and drug use for years, and finally realized that he even finished college before finally forming Velvet Revoler with Slash and becoming a columnist for Seattle Weekly and ESPN. Anyone who has enjoyed Steven Adler's drumming on the album Appetite for Destruction should probably thank Duff McKagan. Because it was Duff and Izzy Stradlin who tried to get Steven Adler to leave his style of metal playing, and create a new style that later became a mix of heavy metal drums for the next decade. And, like other world-class rock musicians, Duff and Izzy did it in a very distinctive style.

The small stories behind the greatness of Guns N 'Roses in the era of Appetite for Destruction like that are the most interesting parts of this 384-page book. A book that is presented very openly. And there is also a story about his fight with Axl Rose which led to the departure of Duff and Slash from Guns N 'Roses. Then the story about his madness in consuming alcohol and various types of drugs, and his very hard efforts to keep working in music. All of that flowed freely, and neatly arranged in straightforward words and sentences. You could say this is a novel rather than an autobiographical book. If all the information contained in this book is correct, then the figure of Duff McKagan is worthy of being said to be like a rock at the bottom of a river with clear water. This book, like most of the rocker's autobiographical books, is about the changing life and personality of the rocker. Starting from a poor teenager who tirelessly rebels and tries to live a life full of challenges and risks, to becoming a famous rock star, and finally forced to return to the reality of life, and become an ordinary person who has aged and is grateful for the greatest gift that is "life" . Duff also wrote extensively. And among what Duff wrote were tough topics like, finances, in a local newspaper in Seattle. And also about music. When reading this book, people will look at Duff McKagan with a different kind of respect. Maybe Previously they only respected him because of his greatness playing bass in the band Guns N 'Roses. But now people will definitely have a different way of respecting him and seeing Duff, it's because of Duff's struggle to survive as a human, after all that he's been through. Duff McKagan, is now incarnate as a true survivor.
